Description
This journal may be used by anyone. However, it was specially crafted for individuals with dementia. Journaling can help people with dementia focus and aid their memory. It can exercise the brain and help with mental health.
I wanted to create something with seasonal artwork, and seasonal prompts for folks to think about. Each day offers an autumn-inspired journal prompt. If nothing comes to mind right away, don’t fret. Sometimes having a conversation or looking through old photo albums will spark ideas. Other times you will think of something a little later.
There are also seven illustrations that repeat throughout this journal.
I have been keeping a gratitude journal for more than two decades and believe it is a huge contributor to my well-being through life’s ups and downs. With this in mind, each day offers a space to record three things you are thankful for.
It seems to me that regardless of age or life stage music can make a day better. With this in mind, I put a spot to add a song each day. I highly encourage you to listen to the song you pick for a quick mood boost if possible.
I struggled with what to label the final spot. Should it be a place for the day’s to-do list? Or, would it be better to have it as a place for people to reflect at the end of the day?
I know some people journal in the morning, while others journal in the evening. I settled on simply putting “Today” and encourage you to do what works for you.
As I continued on the process of making this book I began to think that this journal might be of benefit and be fun to anyone at any stage of life.
Whether you are an individual who has dementia, are caring for someone with the disease, or someone who just loves to journal, I hope you find this journal to be a pleasant spot in your day.
